What Sets Gershman Mortgage Apart from Other Lenders?

We were so excited when Fairlen Browning (NMLS# 156660) came on board as a loan officer in August 2024! She joined our blossoming Clarksville, TN branch and brought a wealth of industry knowledge and success. We recently had the opportunity to chat with Fairlen about what sets Gershman Mortgage apart from other lenders and what this transition has been like for her.

How did you get started in the mortgage industry?
I started in the mortgage industry in 2007 after the finance company I worked for closed without notice. I had a friend who worked at a local credit union. They were hiring for a mortgage loan officer, and he thought I would be a good fit for the position.

Throughout your years in mortgage lending, what has been your favorite part about your role?
My favorite part of lending is the opportunity to walk buyers from not thinking they can buy to the closing table. I love the simplification of homebuying. Many first-time homebuyers think purchasing is much more complicated than it really is, so I enjoy making the process simple and available to all!

You recently joined Gershman and became a part of a strong, energetic team in Clarksville, TN. What has been the best part of this transition for you?
The best part of the transition is the support both locally and at the corporate level. I have enjoyed being a part of a company where people actually know your name!

How is Gershman willing and able to help customers more than other mortgage companies you’ve worked for in the past?
One thing that I appreciate about Gershman is the “think tank” atmosphere. I have never had a file that I could not bounce off of Steve Buckles (Processing Manager/VP) or Kim Grimes (Underwriting Manager/VP)—they are my go-tos! I love that everyone wants to make the deal work for the customer.

How has the support staff/operations team at Gershman Mortgage differed from other lenders you’ve worked with in the past?
It’s truly a team atmosphere. We’re all working towards the same goal.

Fairlen has already helped several families finance their homes during her time at Gershman Mortgage. We know that her determination and positive attitude will prove to be a significant asset in helping families across the country (she’s licensed in 10 states!) achieve their dream of homeownership. We’re so glad to have her here; we know she has a bright future at Gershman!
